Searching for Good Resources

As a part of my quest to find a good agent, I’ve come across several resources which have already been valuable. They are (Publisher’s Marketplace ) and, both well known online services that I’ve subscribed to.  Although I’m still very much in the process of learning about these resources, they’ve already proven useful in cross referencing writers and agents.  It’s important to do your research and find agents who are more likely to be interested in the sort of work you’re doing.  Both these resources make it possible to find an agent who represents an author who you admire or who writes in a similar way as you do.  It’s a good place to start.

I’d love it if anyone out there knows of other useful, time saving resources  . . . let me know!

  1. Jeff Herman’s guide (google him, you’ll find it right away) is invaluable because it has interviews with hundreds of reputable agents. The interviews are fascinating and really give insight into who the agents are. It’s as important to have a good personal match – a bond of trust and mutual regard – as it is to find someone who’s well connected and energetic. Try to meet in person with any agent interested enough in your manuscript to want to talk further. It took me three years to find an agent, but was well worth the time and care.
